To lay down the procedure for UV Visible Spectrophotometer Premier Color Scan Model No.-SS 5100A operation
2.0 SCOPE
2.1 This procedure applies to the Quality Control Department of...
3.0 RESPONSIBILITIES
3.1 QC chemists to prepare and follow the SOP..
3.2 Head – QA & QC for implementation of SOP.
4.0 UV color spectrophotometer Calibration procedure
(FOR DYE SOLUTIONS)
4.1 Weigh accurately 2.0 gm in 500ml
Volumetric Flask
4.2 Add 60-70 ml DM Water and stir to
dissolve completely.
4.3 Keep it for one hour for better
stability.
4.4 Dilute up to the mark with DM water &
Shake well. Let this be Solution ‘A’.
4.5 Prepare Sample and Standard solution in an identical manner.
4.6 Pipette out 2ml of the solution ‘A’ and
transfer it to a 100ml volumetric flask.
4.7 Dilute up to the mark with DM water & DOWANOL PM (50:50) and shake well. Let this be solution ‘B’.
Read
solution ‘B’ of sample & standard on a UV Visible Spectrophotometer in the
800 – 350 nm in absorbance mode using 10 mm matched cuvettes.
4.8 First
of all we do Calibration of Instrument with DM Water. Put DM Water in the cuvette
and White tile in the Light source of the Spectrophotometer. Click on calibration.
after calibration click on OK.
4.9 Put
Solution ‘B’of Standard Solution in a cuvette and open Quality Control in which folder for dye solutions
created in which individual file for ANIO/AQUA
CONC./ AQUATINT DYE COLORS create. Now open the file and click on
Spectro, give a name to the file and click on OK.
4.10 As
same as Putting Solution ‘B’of Sample Solution in a cuvette and open Quality Control in which folder for dye solutions
created in which individual file for ANIO/AQUA
CONC./ AQUATINT DYE COLORS create. Now open the file and click on
Spectro, give a name to the file, and click on OK.
4.11 Now
compare both Standard and Sample and print the comparison data in which dE and strength are shown.
PRECAUTIONS: Weigh Accurately and Solution Prepare solution with accuracy.
5.0 PROCEDURE
(FOR PIGMENT DISPERSIONS)
5.1 Take pigment sample quantity according to the above-mixing proportion in a 50 ml round bottom beaker accurately.
5.2 Now add pigment quantity according to reduction (either white reduction or black reduction).
5.3 Mix
the pigment properly for a smooth mixture.
5.4 Now spray the mixture of pigment on leather or draw-down paper.
5.5 Similarly follow the above 4 STEPS for the control pigment sample
also.
5.6 Dried
the leather or draw-down paper with a drier.
5.7 Now take the dE and Strength reading in UV Visible Spectrophotometer Premier Color Scan Model No.-SS 5100A and compare the strength with each other.
PRECAUTION :
1. Try to make a minimum of 6 inches x 6 inches leather-cuttings or standard-sized draw-down
paper for measurement.
2. Add other Chemicals i.e.
Wax emulsion, Binder, and other additives as per your process, and then Spray on
leather. No other chemical is required for Spray on draw-down paper.
3. Numbers of Spray coats will be as per
your process (generally 3 to 5 Spray).
4. Weighing Balance should be 1.0 mg or at least 10mgs for more accuracy.
