Procedure for the handling spillageÂ
HANDLING OF SOLID SPILLAGE
Ensure that the spillage material and quantity are identified.
Ensure that the workers assigned for the purpose of cleaning wear hand gloves, goggles, masks, etc.
Handle the spilled product after having complete knowledge of the material safety data sheet.
Wash the area with abundant water if the quantum and cost of the material are below Rs. 1000/- inform Q.A. and destroy in their presence. If the quantity or cost is substantial inform Q.A. and the director. Collect the supernatant material carefully, and sift through a proper sieve to remove impurities. If needed checked with a magnet for removing metallic impurities or sort it by hand. Document every step.
Update the stock register with proper authorization.
Document the entire incidence and ensure that there is no recurrence of the same incidence.

Liquid Spills Process
Ensure that the spillage material and quantity are identified.
Ensure that the workers assigned for the purpose of cleaning wear hand gloves, goggles, masks, etc.
Handle the spilled product after having complete knowledge of the material safety data sheet.
Inform Q.A. and director if the quantum is worth more than Rs. 1000/- or if it is hazardous. If needed, inform the firefighting squad immediately.
Wash the spillage area with abundant water followed by surfactants. Again mop it with water to remove the traces of surfactants.
Update the stock register with proper authorization.
Document the entire incidence and ensure that there is no recurrence of the same incidence.
Gas leak procedures in the workplace
Cordon off the area, ask people to vacate the affected area.
Ensure that the workers assigned for the purpose of cleaning wear hand gloves, goggles, masks, etc.
Handle the spilled product after having complete knowledge of the material safety data sheet.
Ensure that the spillage area is well ventilated and exhaust fans are ON. Take care that there is no sparking due to putting electrical appliances ON or OFF.
Ensure that no hazardous materials are lying in the spillage area.
Update the stock register with proper authorization.
