SOP for Hot Air Oven

This Standard operating procedures and precautions of hot air ovens in QC by chemists and responsibility. 

1.0 OBJECTIVE

1.1 To lay down the procedure for HOT AIR OVEN.

2.0 SCOPE

2.1 This procedure applies to the Quality Control Department. 

3.0 RESPONSIBILITIES

3.1 QC chemists to prepare and follow the SOP.

3.2 Head – QA & QC for implementation of SOP.

4.0 Operating Procedure of Hot Air Oven

4.1 Place the oven on an even surface and ensure that proper electrical connections are provided at the point of installation.

4.2 Connect the plug of the Oven to the main and switch the current supply from the main.

4.3 Switch on the main button from the oven and the red light will glow.

4.4 Open the door of the oven and put the sample in for testing.

4.5 Now set the desired temperature by rotating the temperature controller.

4.6 Green button will glow indicating the temperature is increasing.

4.7 After achieving the set temperature the green indicator will be off (Auto- cut)

4.8 Wait for the oven temperature to come down to normal, and pick out the sample with the help of a tong or asbestos gloves.

4.9 Close the door of the oven and switch off the power supply from the main.

5.0 PRECAUTION OF HOT AIR OVEN

5.1 Avoid touching the instruments with a wet hand.

5.2 Use asbestos gloves to handle the hot process equipment and glassware.
